We left my mother's around 6:50 this morning. My original goal was 6:30 but I chose to set my alarm for 6:15 after going to bed so late. We did pretty well getting up and out. When I set up the GPS in her driveway, it estimated that we would reach our destination at 5:23 p.m. I thought we would add a couple of hours to that for food/gas stops. We topped off the tank, bought some ice to protect those yummy Lindor Lindt truffles and were on the highway by 7:06. We were held up with traffic in New York for about half an hour. We stopped in New Jersey for a bathroom break. Since it was late enough for lunch, we thought we'd get some food there. It wasn't really busy, but they didn't have any food made so we got back in the van and the kids ate some breakfast items we had with us. Toward the end of New Jersey, we stopped for gas and got lunch from a Taco Bell/KFC restaurant. Jessica was happy because we don't go there and it is a place she likes.

The highlight of the drive for me was going on the Chesapeake Bridge/Tunnel. The most expensive toll we paid on the trip but worth the $12. Ben wasn't thrilled at first thinking our causeway was bigger. We did start off with a small bridge and then we were back on land, after our discussion though, we ended up on bridges that totaled 4+ miles and went through two tunnels. It was awesome!
We made really good time getting here. We had a total of 50 minutes of traffic between New York, construction and a breakdown where everyone had to merge to one lane. With the stops mentioned above, we were here by 6:15 p.m. and glad to be out of the van.
