A really quiet weekend. Ben went with the Teachers to the Ronald McDonald house to serve enchiladas to the families there Friday night. (Picture is from the Teacher Advisor.) Rad came home from his trip. We had nothing scheduled Saturday, which is very unusual. Sunday was a repeat of other Sundays, minus meetings after church or in the evening. I told you it was quiet.

Daddy/Daughter Night
We had so much fun tonight. I was a little worried on our way to church to set up because there was a big rain cloud with occasional lightning. It looked to be right near the church. As we were approaching and sitting at the light, we were watching to see which way the cloud was moving. Thankfully it was moving away from the church. The shower that had passed through seemed to cool things off and there was a breeze. So much nicer than the 94 degrees it was earlier. Alright, so maybe it was 89 degrees and humid and still felt hot but it was cooler than it was and there was a breeze.
A couple of weeks ago we had a meeting and the girls planned the activities and refreshments for the night. We started off the night with a balloon pop. We had 3 bags of balloons for each team. The dads competed against the girls to pop the balloons first.
Next we played Annie, Annie Over. This was the only picture I could take because I was helping to hold the sheet that the wind kept blowing. We played this at another meeting and the girls loved it. It took a few rounds for the dads to catch on but once they did, they took the lead.
We took a water break and then played beach ball volleyball.
Our next activity was a progressive relay. I laughed so much watching them do this. To speed up the game, I had the dad & daughter hold hands and run to the chair and pick a card and do what it said. They then went back to their team and held hands with the next daddy/daughter team and all 4 went and did the next card. By the time it was done, each team of 10 was doing the final activity. They had to do 5 jumping jacks, recite the 1st Article of Faith, sing Jingle Bells, run backwards to their team and hop to their team.
The final activity the dads got to put their daughter's hair in a ponytail and the girls got to shave their dad with shaving cream and a popsicle stick. Very funny.
We ended the night with frozen yogurt, brownies, strawberries and chocolate dipped strawberries. Good times.

First Week
I was putting groceries away today around 1100 and thinking how much time it takes to get through the morning routine this year. It takes 3 hours from the time I wake up in the morning until the last kid leaves for school with a lot of going back and forth.
A picture was posted from band camp.
To help you find exactly where he is:
Ben has done well this week with seminary, school, band practice after school, piano, homework, scouts and he even fits in chatting with friends on Facebook. Becca has found middle school easier than she expected. When I think of the Jessica & Stephanie the phrase that keeps running through my mind is "the bees knees."

School
Ben did his 2 weeks of band camp. They performed a few of the songs for the families last Thursday night and did one of their routines on the field. I brought my camera to take pictures only to turn it on and discover the memory card was in my laptop. Bummers. I liked watching them move around on the field. It was hard to keep track of Ben with 218 members of the band on the field. The last week of summer break included a couple of sleepovers, several parties, movies and hanging out with friends.
Ben started seminary today and he looks tired. He stayed up late last night explaining to me that you are always charged the first day of school so it is easy to get up. He did get up fairly well, but didn't hear his alarm. Stephanie and Jessica had their alarm set for PM instead of AM so they needed to be woken up too. Becca doesn't need to set an alarm with school starting so late for her.
Everyone had a good first day at school. One of Ben's classes was in a different room so he had to figure that out. Becca had to ask for help once for a class that she couldn't find. Jessica and Stephanie will tell you they had it easy. I was the only one with "homework". Who knew they could find more forms to fill out when so many were filled out at the end of last year and at the registrations.
There are so many kids for the high school and elementary school that there are 2 buses at each stop and that is the only stop on the route. Our middle school bus has one bus and 2 stops - ours and another 1/2 a mile away. Lots and lots of kids.
