Daddy/Daughter Night

We had so much fun tonight. I was a little worried on our way to church to set up because there was a big rain cloud with occasional lightning. It looked to be right near the church. As we were approaching and sitting at the light, we were watching to see which way the cloud was moving. Thankfully it was moving away from the church. The shower that had passed through seemed to cool things off and there was a breeze. So much nicer than the 94 degrees it was earlier. Alright, so maybe it was 89 degrees and humid and still felt hot but it was cooler than it was and there was a breeze.

A couple of weeks ago we had a meeting and the girls planned the activities and refreshments for the night. We started off the night with a balloon pop. We had 3 bags of balloons for each team. The dads competed against the girls to pop the balloons first.

Next we played Annie, Annie Over. This was the only picture I could take because I was helping to hold the sheet that the wind kept blowing. We played this at another meeting and the girls loved it. It took a few rounds for the dads to catch on but once they did, they took the lead.We took a water break and then played beach ball volleyball.
Our next activity was a progressive relay. I laughed so much watching them do this. To speed up the game, I had the dad & daughter hold hands and run to the chair and pick a card and do what it said. They then went back to their team and held hands with the next daddy/daughter team and all 4 went and did the next card. By the time it was done, each team of 10 was doing the final activity. They had to do 5 jumping jacks, recite the 1st Article of Faith, sing Jingle Bells, run backwards to their team and hop to their team.
The final activity the dads got to put their daughter's hair in a ponytail and the girls got to shave their dad with shaving cream and a popsicle stick. Very funny.
We ended the night with frozen yogurt, brownies, strawberries and chocolate dipped strawberries. Good times.
