We took our last day trip in New Mexico. We've wanted to go to Taos for quite a while and just haven't been able to squeeze it in with our trips to Mancos or activities going on at home. Rad took today off and we made the trip.Our first stop was the church in the picture above. The church is well-known here and is photographed a lot. Ben commented that this church was even in his social studies book this year. I was told a year and a half to go because there is a picture of Jesus hanging that no matter where you stand it looks as though he is looking at you. There was a slide show to tell about a painting where a cross appears but we weren't able to see it. They were closed when we stopped the first time and the second time they had already shown the last viewing for the day.
We also went to the Taos Pueblo. The tour was brief with information similar to other places we've visited. Rad noted that here the passing of a home is patriarchal and in Acoma it is matriarchal. It was so nice to hear the flow of water from the river and the art work they had available for purchase was beautiful.
We stopped at a gallery that had some stunning pieces that were way out of our price range.
Our last stop was the gorge. Nothing really to say about that, just that we checked it out. Of course, Rad got a couple of geocaches on the trip today. That goes without saying.
