Simple Decorations

The candy cane above I made using chicken wire that was left over from Jessica's science fair project last year and 2 rolls of mesh ribbon that I bought in October.  I couldn't remember what I bought the mesh for so it only made sense that with the colors white and red, it should be a candy cane.  There is a nice shine to it during the day with the sun on it and at night the lights in the bushes give off enough light that it can be easily seen.  It stood up to wind and rain right after it was hung.
Rad and Ben hung the garland by the garage doors and attached red bows.  We later trimmed back the bush for the candy cane to be seen better.  The only lights we have outside this year are on the bushes you see in the picture and the two trees in pots (which aren't in the picture) by our front door.

Ben wants more lights but, for some reason, I'm happy with what we have this year.  I think it is that during the day, it looks nice.  Normally the only thing seen during the day are the 3 wreaths we hang by the garage doors and the trees by our front door.  If I were to change anything, I would add poinsettia plants in front of the bushes to add a splash of color.  I'm glad we changed it up this year and went with something different.
