We have a lot of hummingbirds flying around. One day I went onto the back patio and one was flying a foot away from my face. At that moment, I was glad I wasn't afraid of birds because it flew there for a few seconds before finally flying off.
They don't seem to be afraid of coming close to you when you are sitting outside either.

A scrub jay. Not the best picture but I do like the blue and the gray. I imagine this to be the color of the western bluejay. I hope I see one next year.
