January in a Nut Shell

The holidays ended quietly for us.  The final week of break from school Becca volunteered some time at the library for the community service she needed to do for school.  We were supposed to have a "cousins day" in Massachusetts on the 3rd but a storm passed through and the event was postponed.  This worked out well for Becca because she was able to go to the Winter Ball that she would have missed out on.  Isn't she lovely?

Becca spent several afternoons a week after school preparing for her regents.  She feels like she did well on them.  These are required for her graduation.  She is basically testing on classes she took in Florida that other juniors are taking this year.

On Martin Luther King Day Ben, Stephanie and I went to Massachusetts to pick up my Aunt Beth and we went to visit my Great Aunt Mabel at an assisted living facility.  Aunt Mabel was recently moved to a section where she is watched more closely.  She has frontal lobe dimentia that has progressed more.  She knew my Aunt Beth, recognized my face but couldn't really place me.  All in all, it was a nice visit.  She is such a sweet lady and addresses everyone as "darlin'" more liberally than I recall from earlier years. 

Stephanie and Jessica are still playing basketball and developing some skills that they are happy to be learning.

Ben is keeping himself occupied with work and football. :)
